We are making the merger of Suzano with Unipar and creating the Southeast Petrochemical Group. There are currently two main groups. In both groups, Petrobras is the main shareholder and the sole provider of raw material. But, in my opinion, the consolidation of the Brazilian petrochemical industry is over. Work Gradimir the government says is a challenge when you need to act quickly and investment priorities are at stake. On the other hand, we have the opportunity to enter the international petrochemical sector.

The international oil companies that led the industry in the 70s and 80s and big business that we knew where Braskem Petrochemical was established seven or eight years ago no longer exist. The National Petrochemical are gaining international presence across the Middle East, as well as private funds and investors who purchased the icons in the petrochemical sector in the past. In that sense, to have Petrobras as our major shareholder is also defensive. This shows that the regional market is protected by our local agenda. There is an opportunity there.

Gradimir also adds that the intention is to make a competitive company Braskem in the region. First step in this direction is to consolidate our assets in Brazil, then explore the competitive feedstock America South. Today in Venezuela, we are the partner of the Venezuelan petrochemical Pequiven. We did the same in Bolivia and Peru “that is where the raw materials. All this will raise the value of our EBITDA, making Braskem one of the ten largest petrochemical companies in 2012.
